Kvasir is named after a being in Norse mythology, born of the saliva of the Æsir and the Vanir. Kvasir, who was very wise, traveled far and wide teaching and spreading knowledge until he met Fjalar and Galar, two dwarfs, who not only killed him but drained him of his blood and mixed it with honey to make the Mead of Poetry, a mead that is said to imbue the drinker with the gift of poetry and wisdom.
